LOTS of rain

Seems like ALL it's been doing is raining lately out here in Philly. This drawing MUST have come out of that! :)

This is still missing some 'collage' elements... I'll finish and repost later!

'Inspiration Wednesday' #2 Jamie Hewlett!

Jamie Hewlett!... Of course, along with Damon Albarn, creator of the Gorillaz!
Man, for MY money, you'd be HARD-PRESSED to come up with a more influential
artist than Mr. Hewlett. This guy's stamp can be felt on so MUCH of today's animation design... Such a unique style and vision. It'll be a LONG time until something rocks the animation, comic and design world like Hewlett's Gorillaz.
And while we're at it i think it's just about ESSENTIAL to mention Passion Pictures in London. These guys and gals have animated the lion's share of the Gorillaz videos up to this point, and the quality of their work has been an absolute inspiration. ALWAYS great animation and superb direction! :)
Thanks for stopping by the blog, compadres... THIS week's inspiration will be a fun little change of pace! ;) See ya Wednesday!

'Inspiration Wednesday' #1 Akira Toriyama!

OK, so just to jazz things up a bit, i think every Wednesday will NOW be 'Inspiration Wednesday' around here. :)
Every Wednesday I'll talk a little bit about an artist I admire and do a little 'take' on their art, like these 'Goku' sketchies.
I have a really diverse set of artistic influences, so I'm sure this will turn out to be a pretty fun and interesting list. :)

( At least, i hope YOU guys think so!)
For week #1 i thought it would be cool to set things off with the great Manga (and Anime) artist, Akira Toriyama.
Most famous for Dragon Ball, and the wonderfully old-school manga (by today's standards) 'Dr. Slump.'
I found this cool Toriyama interview on 'youtube' (unfortuneately, it's ALL in Japanese w/o translation!) ... BUT, the music in the beginning is funny... -haha

Oh, and the 'bird' drawing above has NOTHING to do with Dragon Ball, just an unrelated doodle that I wanted to share. ;) -haha
I'm gonna go and try to find the time to do a 'Goku' cut-out piece, too... Stay-tuned for that!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
