Hey gang!
On the hunt for some new inspiration... I decided to take a trip
back and remember some of my earliest artistic heroes...

Dr. Suess is probably the first illustrator that really opened my eyes
to "cartoon art" as a child. I remember that the art really gave me a specific feeling. It was unique and warm and it swept you RIGHT into the pages of the book!

It was totally impossible not to get caught-up in those funky little worlds, ya know?

i'm a subscriber of suessian philosophy myself. i don't know if it carries over to my stuff, but if you ever see me draw someone with glasses, they always have suess eyes.
and hey! earth worm jim! i wasn't able to get doug to draw one for you while i was at comic con, but this year i'll be on top of it...i'll just be sure to NOT bring up politics until after he's drawn something!
Great stuff man! Really nice!
HA!, cool idea in splitting the pic like that. I love it!
He looks awesome dude!! Your take on Earthworm Jim would be freakin rad too!!!
Rock on! I haven't been able to check out your work in a long time -- haven't had internet til yesterday and it's been over a month since we moved. Love that you broke up these into two pieces!
You gonna be around NYC at all JFeb 8 - 13? I'll be down for that Children's Book Conference.

Nice! That helps me forget about Mike Myers.
ha, thanks guys! :)
Yeah, you can do some really fun stuff by breaking up the images like that... i was thinking of a little 'Brady Bunch' styled piece where each head is broken up into a different box or something...
I also thought it would be cool to maybe start up a new little side blog where each artist completes part of a 'totem pole' type thing?... waddya think?
